PRAY FOR THE PEACE OF JERUSALEM – PSALM 122 v 6

Please pray with us for the return of the hostages, for an end to the war, and for the LORD’s comfort for all who are suffering bereavement, injury or displacement.

In faith, we have started planning our next trip for 22 – 31 October 2026. Please keep these dates free and contact us for further information.

We have had a brilliant time in Israel in the past, exploring some of this intriguing country.

We’ve planned a fun, active, informal trip aimed at those who haven’t been before, who are young at heart and up for a challenge. As well as seeing and experiencing some aspects of this country, it’s peoples and cultures, we hope to gain an insight into some of the complex issues of life in Israel today. We will also have the opportunity to meet with Jewish and Arab believers in Jesus. By the end of the week we hope that we will have grown in our knowledge and understanding, but most of all grown in our faith. (This is not an in depth study tour!)

Places and Activities

To give you an idea here are some of the places we hope to visit – these are suggestions but time will probably not permit them all. Some activities will involve strenuous exercise, in hot temperatures, so a good level of fitness is required.

  • Hike in the Golan Heights (including waterfalls and ladder descents into moving water)
  • Try walking on Galilee, or swim if un-successful!
  • Experience the Judean wilderness (the valley of the shadow of death)
  • Float in the Dead Sea
  • Search out where David cut off a corner of Saul’s robe near En Gedi springs
  • Climb Masada,  (a rock fortress including Herod’s palace)
  • Camel trek in the Negev desert
  • Travel the valley of Elah where David slew Goliath
  • Walk the walls of the old city of Jerusalem
  • Ascend the Mount of Olives
  • Visit The Western Wall
  • Retrace Jesus’ route to the cross
  • Golgotha, Garden Tomb
  • Visit Nazareth, Capernaum, Jericho and Bethlehem
  • Navigate through Hezekiah’s tunnel
  • Mount of Evil Council – top photo opportunity
  • Yad Vashem (holocaust museum)
  • Relax in the Med

What’s Included?

Our price includes accommodation, food, activities, park entry fees, rental cars, etc. but does not include insurance, or your flight.  We are still researching the costs, but expect the holiday to be in the region of £1100-£1400.  Sorry to be vague about the price, but we needed to get some information to you early, before we are ceratin of all the costs.

The accomodation is mostly in a Jersualem apartment, but we also expect travel out to the Negev and Galiee for a few days. As usual, food means breakfast, lunch and dinner. This will involve some eating in and some eating out, but still all provided and organised by us. We use a number of hire cars to get around during the week.

James and Ruth Cole are leading the week for us. They are not experts, but lived in Israel for 2 years and visit regularly.

The situation in Israel is not always predictable, so flexibility and understanding may be required. If you need more details or have further questions please ask.

The Flights

You purchase your own flights and we organise everything else. It also gives more flexibility, if you need to fly from elsewhere or travel at different times.

To give you an idea of flights costs in 2022 they were about £283. This included a 20% share of hold luggage! If you have booked onto the holiday with us, as soon as the flight becomes available we will advise you, so you can book it as cheaply as possible. PLEASE don’t research the options before the release date, as this just pushes the prices up!

Do make sure you book with us first, before organising your flight, as places on the holiday will be limited.

We will make a plan for everyone to meet the night before in Gerrards Cross, and arrange a meal, beds and then early morning transport to the airport. Alternatively, if it suits you to go from another airport, or at a different flight time, this will not be a problem. However, if you land at a very different time from the rest of the group, we will expect you to make your own way from Tel Aviv airport, to Jerusalem. This is not hard, and we can advise exactly how to do it.

Luggage

What does 20% share of hold luggage mean? In the past we have excluded hold luggage from the holiday, and this has worked very well. It was not principally based on cost or the convenience of escaping airports!  We believe the kind of programme we envisage will operate far better if people travel light and are able to carry all their own luggage.  This means we can cram easily into cars when we go for light weight overnight stops. If the idea of getting all you need for 1 week into a small rucksack isn’t a challenge you relish, then maybe this style of trip isn’t for you! Since we last travel to Israel, Easyjet have changed their cabin luggage sizes allowance. Now only a small cabin bag, 45x36x20cms, which fits under the seat ahead, is included in the Easyjet flights. So while the idea is still to travel light, realistically, we will have to take some hold luggage, but would likely be sharing 1 hold bag between 5 or more people, with as much packed in your hand luggage as possible.

To book send a deposit of £100, to reserve a place in our planning. There will be a limited number of spaces.
