Transfer from the airport

We’ve included some outline information below to help you decide on the airports and transfers.

Public transport

The public transport system in Switzerland is on time, clean, efficient and most staff speak good English. You can buy your ticket in advance online or at the station.  Sometimes a swiss transfer ticket for £85 (return) from www.sbb.ch can save you money, or recently omio.co.uk has been offering good deals.  They are also able to provide full details of your travel schedule including platform numbers, either ask at any train counter or print from the SBB website.

Hiring a car

If there are two or more of you in the party, consider renting a car as this can be cheaper and quicker and gives you flexibility in regions with a number of ski areas. Where possible, we’ll put you in touch with other flyers so you can arrange to share costs and driving.

Approximate pubic transport travel times between aiports and resorts are as follows.

Note for Basel: you will need to take the no. 50 bus to get from the airport to the train station.

– Lauterbrunnen

By train via Interlaken. As you leave Lauterbrunnen train station, turn left and walk slightly uphill towards the centre of the village. Our chalet “im Rohr” is on the left about 300 metres after the crest of the hill. It’s in a sweeping left hand bend, opposite the church.

– Adelboden

By train to Fruitigen, then Post Bus to Adelboden. Get off the bus before the terminal station, at the Mineralquelle. Walk back down the hill, and after 200 metres our chalet “Albo” is on the right.

– Saas Almagell/Saas Grund

By train to Visp, then take the bus towards Saas Fee, with another change for Saas Almagell at Saas Grund. The bus will usaully take you as far as the Sport Hotel (occasionally it may carry on to Waldegg for you!). Our chalet “Waldegg” is 500m up the road on the left after the Sport Hotel.
