Accidents can happen when using the slopes. We do our best to make sure you are well prepared to avoid damaging yourself and others. Other than following the skiway code and being in control of your speed and line on the slope, being physically ready to ski is important.

When booking with us for the first time, we will include a ski sense leaflet to help you prepare. Much of this information is also in the initial information section on the website. Raising your general level of fitness before the holiday will help you get the most out of it. Think about all areas of your fitness which includes flexibility, strength, endurance and agility. The predominant areas used in snowsports are legs but don’t ignore cardiovascular activities or upper body.

In resort before going full on into skiing or boarding hard, the experts recommend a gentle warm up to get the blood flowing, then some gentle stretches of the key muscle groups to be used. Our instructors will follow a pattern of either formal warm-ups and stretches or will design lessons which build up gradually. When skiing in a small group, stretches are often ignored, but follow the lesson practise and make sure you fit these in before pushing yourself.

This will reduce the risk of injury and help you get the most from lessons and your skiing or boarding for the week.
